Welcome to Petra!
Day two we spent all day in Petra.
Petra was established around 6th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataeans. in 363 AD, The whole entire city was destroyed by an earthquake in the middle of the night. It killed untold thousands. The rest of the nabataeans dispersed and moved away.
It rained, rained, and rained all morning. we hiked through the mud and were drenched.... and it was so worth it!
The Siq and first sight of the Treasury
Kazheh or Treasury.
This is the Tomb of Aretas IV (2 Corinthians 11:32)
The boys named these two camels chillin' out front: Rachel and Chelsea
Tombs.
we hiked to a monastery about 45 minutes away
Petra is absolutely breathtaking
the hike was a dead incline.
one small slip and we would be goners.
we were careful :)
The Monastery
we all made it to the top
we spent hours exploring various tombs and climbing throughout the city
IT was quite an adventure exploring all of the nooks & crannies of Petra

Story time.....
The Kissing Camel
once upon a time, there were two camels basking in the sun on the side of the dirt road. A beautiful princess named Kate decided she wanted to kiss a camel to see if he would turn into a prince...
nothing happened. So she suggested I try to do the same. What's there to lose? A prince would be nice! So I stepped up to the plate and puckered my lips........
and nearly got my face bitten off by a camel
(This shot is completely candid and displays pretty accurately how i reacted-lets just say it made picture of the day in Petra)
I think I will stick to being single for now
To leave petra on a bang....
our mode of transportation: Horse Back riding
Petra was unreal.
